Crochet LED purse

Wearable computing, with all its innovations like Google glass, smart watches, personal monitoring devices has become the next big thing in the market and very soon we will find ourselves attached to a number of gadgets and interacting with them. If you are interested in making interesting things with wearable computing items, Adafruit is definitely an excellent place to start.

I wanted to make something more rudimentary and simple, trying to solve the problem of women having a tough time finding keys in their purse. So I made a prototype crochet purse, with a tiny LED circuit and stitched it to the inner side of the lining. I kept the light facing outside to be able to be used on a dark and lonely road or just show up stylishly in a party!!!

Like it???

Hot pink and tangerine orange - Crochet chain necklace

Just came up with this crochet chain necklace idea a few days back and finished it last night...
I was itching to make a crochet necklace of my own, but wanted it to be sturdy.. Saw lots of chain necklaces with cords, leather and stuff.. So thought why not try something with crochet.. Its is a16 inch necklace..and have attached the crochet ends with jump rings...

Would love to know how you all find it...!!!

Prance like a peacock!!!

Peacock... Ahhhhhh!!! What can I possibly say different about this spectacular bird that is not already known? Yes indeed, it needs no introduction. Elegant, extravagant, gaudy, boisterous, feminine, I can go on and on... I saw this bird many times in my lifetime and  I must say it struck me by awe each and every time. They say the peacock has mesmerizing and hypnotizing characteristics..I am rest assured, that it definitely had me hypnotized for at least a split of a second every time I set my eyes on it.

This huge, magnificent bird has been a prime inspiration for me in my works of art and today I would like to share one piece specific piece that I made recently.

If you are interested in this digital print, you can visit my new etsy shop:

and buy it from here and flaunt your projects here:

Etsy Treasury...

Just to remember this gorgeous bird, I have also made a treasury in Etsy which consists of products by artists who have used this bird as an inspiration in their arts. If you are interested, you can have a look too!!!

Exotic fish digital print!!!

Alpona is a famous floor painting technique used in India. Once I started working on Inkscape, I was highly excited to try how I could do Alpona with the computer. It was fascinating to move the computer mouse like a paint brush and the outcome was remarkably the same. It reminded me the first time I sat on a computer to paint on Paint. It was unfathomable how one could use a mouse to paint. Funny how things have changed in this digital age!!! I can even make a complicated, intricate Alpona design on my comp.

If you would like to have this , just go to my shop on etsy and download it at :

Digital Print download

Just uploaded my first digital print in my new Etsy shop. Felt like a lot of work, but as they say, all's well that ends well.

Mastering inkscape took a lot of time but once you get the hang of it, making digital prints like this is fun.

It took me 2 days to complete this. Each and every part of the drawing was done from scratch.

Happy holi !!!!

The festival of colors in India!!!

Fresh spring flowers of the season

It took me such a long time to submit this blog, since I kept gazing at the photos!!! Nature and its strange beauty. I am awestruck. Such a simple sweet harmless thing but can change your mood in seconds.

Oh, the wonderful fresh spring flowers. Nothing in the world can match the beauty of spring in any corner of the world. These are from Germany!! :)

Loved these yellow and red pretty flowers which I spotted on the way back home. Check out the shape of the petals and beauty of these pretty, little colorful things. So very inspiring.

I wish I could get some yarns of of these colors. Filled with new inspiration, I start crocheting again....!!

3 Tips for Inspirations!!!

1.  Get inspired from the things you love.  Know how?
I love watching movies (may it be Indian style Bollywood movies or Hollywood movies). I like to note the colors used in Bollywood movies, the backdrops, artistic works, locations, actors and their accessories.I like the style and simplicity used in Hollywood movies.

I love nature. I can sit for hours together gazing at the sky seeing different formations of clouds, watching birds with their strange colors and shapes, the asymmetric, yet symmetric formation of leaves, plants, barks and trees, and so on and so forth.

Reading blogs, books, even reading the news at times, small insignificant things to big prominent things inspire me.

So find out what you like, continue doing them and derive inspiration from them.

2. Do a pattern and then undo it and give your brain a rest. Know why?
This is a personal secret, which I have discovered while crocheting. Whenever I want to develop something new, I try the old patterns or something that I learnt recently and then undo the whole thing and take a long break.Although I stop crocheting, in my subconscious mind  I am still thinking about the pattern or what I want to arrive to. Then after a day or when I feel the time is right, I start crocheting again. Mostly, I get what I had wanted to develop, say a new product or a pattern or sometimes I have to repeat the same process many times till I get the result. This is a completely self taught techniques so I really cannot guarantee how well it works on everyone.

3. Learn and Do a variety of things. Know what?
I love cooking new dishes, DIY -ing and  playing with different types of materials from clay to resin. I have seen that this way I stop myself from getting bored with things as well as get hoards of new ideas for my crochet works. I think it has something to do with the way our brain is wired. We need to rewire or recharge them every time in order to come up with new ideas.I do not know how it really works from anatomical point of view, but this is how I understand the brain. ;)

These are 3 of my tips for inspiration and hope it helps you all in your crochet work!! Happy Crocheting!!
